$75.00
sold out

Come learn the art and science behind crafting a delicious, airy sourdough batard in this hands-on class. From mixing and folding to shaping and baking, you’ll learn every step of the process to create a beautifully crusty loaf with a tender, airy crumb. Whether you’re a seasoned baker or just starting your sourdough journey, this class will equip you with the skills to master this classic loaf. It is a labor of love, but once you learn the process, you won’t have to buy bread ever again!

This class will cover a lot of information! Everything will be in your handout, so don’t worry! We will start with the very basics of sourdough, how to feed and maintain your starter, common terms and definitions, understand the science behind it, tips and tricks, techniques I’ve learned over the years, how to develop a deeper flavor, achieving a beautifully, even colored crust, and then we cannot forget about the entire hands on process from beginning to end! During this class, we will not only bake a couple of loaves but we will get to critique and observe the flavor profile as well! We will go over the crust, the flavor, the crumb, the texture, all of it! Come prepared to learn but, of course, have fun! You will leave feeling much more confident in your sourdough journey!

Location: Our home in Queen Creek, AZ (Riggs/Ellsworth)

You will leave with:

  1. Dehydrated starter

  2. A jar of active starter

  3. A loaf to bake at home the following day

  4. Detailed handout

  5. Sourdough razor blade for scoring

***You are welcome to bring your favorite apron to class as well as your lunch, snacks, or something to drink!***
